Sadness Sandwiches

My roommate is moving out of the apartment a few weeks before I am and has already started the process, leaving the kitchen empty save for a “The joy of the Lord is my strength…” mug. As a result, I’ve had to resort to foods that can be made and eaten with no dishware and little cutlery, such as this toasted turkey, provolone, sundried tomato, and cilantro jalapeno hummus sandwich.

If it looks like I’m eating on a kitchen floor, it’s because I am. The furniture is gone, too.

Happy Snacking,

Sam

Lemon Yogurt Jeni’s with Watermelon & Mint

1. Make friends with someone who works at Jeni’s. Chill for three years or until friendship has solidified.

2. Buy a watermelon to make a fruit salad for another friend’s birthday picnic.

3. Take advantage of first friend’s discount to buy five pints of Jeni’s ice cream for a trip to Oberlin. Go on a day that they are low on dry ice.

4. Smile and thank them when they throw in a pint of Meyer Lemon Yogurt to express how sorry they are about the dry ice situation.

5. Realize you have a lot of fucking ice cream and a lot of fucking watermelon.

6. Cut up some watermelon, place in a bowl with two scoops of Meyer Lemon Yogurt, and sprinkle with fresh mint.

7. Take a low quality picture with your iPhone.

8. #Snackhard.

Note: What’s more summery and clean than melon, lemon, and mint? Yum.

Happy Snacking,

Sam

Cheap Cookies With Cake Frosting

Here is a simple, cheap #SNACKHARD for you to try next time you want to save some money!  Store-brand cookies are outrageously cheap and egregiously bland.  Instead of shilling out the dough to those greedy Keeblers, make your own cookie combinations!

Pictured above is the Shop-Rite Brand Oatmeal Cookies paired with Pillsbury Creamy Supreme Vanilla Cake Frosting.  The possibilities are absolutely not endless because our universe is full of a finite number of icing flavors and store-brand cookies, but the number of actual pairings of flavors and cookies should be more than adequate for the average person’s cookie intake.

Deluxe #SNACKHARD Idea:

Combine store-bought cookies, cake frosting, and top them off with some cheap fresh fruit or whole-sale candy.

Oatmeal Cookies, Vanilla Frosting, AND fresh cut strawberries?  Now that is how you #SNACKHARD!

Happy Snacking,

Matt

Snacking Doesn’t Stand A Chance

Welcome to the #SNACKHARD blog!

The #SNACKHARD philosophy is simple: every chance you have to snack is a chance to snack hard.  Innovative and creative, we aren’t satisfied simply eating out of the packages.

We mess with snacking like teens with doorbells.  If you are looking for new snacking recipes, ideas, or are just hungry and want to think about snacking, you are in the right place.

You probably have noticed the hashtag for #SNACKHARD.  That is so that you can tweet when you are snacking hard and then we can retweet it with our twitter account @SNACKHARD.

Great! Happy snacking everybody!  And if you have to snack, make sure you #SNACKHARD!
